National Intelligence Coordinating Committee 

The National Intelligence Coordinating Committee (NICOC) is comprised of heads of the National Intelligence Agency, South African Secret Services, the South African Police Services Divisional Commissioner for Crime Intelligence, the Chief of Defence Intelligence and the Directors General in the Presidency and Foreign Affairs.

Act 39 of 1994 provides for the establishment of NICOC. 

The function of NICOC includes coordination, integration and interpretation of all information provided by the various intelligence structures.  The products arising out of this process is used to brief Cabinet and its Committees.  Products include periodical intelligence assessments including the National Intelligence Estimates and the National Intelligence Priorities. 

NICOC operates a National Early Warning Centre that anticipates threats.  Their products include current intelligence, special reports and monthly assessments. This Centre will soon be linked to a Regional Centre in Gaborone, which in turn will be linked to a Continental Early Warning Centre to be established in Addis Abba in Ethiopa in 2006.
