Inspector General
Charged with monitoring the civilian monitoring of the Intelligence Services, the Inspector General monitors compliance with the Constitution, laws and policies of our country. The Office of the Inspector General is established in terms of Act 40 of 1994 and reports to the Minister for Intelligence Services.
The office reviews the activities of the Services, receives and investigates complaints from the general public, the Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence (JSCI) or is tasked by the Minister for Intelligence Services.
The Inspector General is appointed by the President following approval by two-thirds of the members of the National Assembly.
Mr Zola Ngcakani was appointed to the office in February 2004.
