Adv PS Swart (DA) to ask the Minister for
Intelligence:

With reference to his predecessor’s reply to Question No 1617 on 24
October 2003, (a) what was the total cost to his department of purchasing this
house and (b) on what date was the house registered in the name of his
department;
Whether any money was spent on (a) renovations, (b) interior decoration
and (c) household appliances, utensils and linen; if not, what is the situation
in respect of each of these items; if so, what amount in respect of each
specified item;
(a) what total amount has been budgeted monthly for household s taff
costs and (b) how many guests have been accommodated at this house in respect of
each specified month since the purchase of the house;
Whether his predecessor ever stayed at this guest house; if so, (a) for how many nights as at the latest specified date for which information is available and (b) why was it considered necessary for her to stay at the guest house rather than at her official residence?
REPLY:
I am informed that you are asking a
question similar to the one posed by the Hon. DHM Gibson to my predecessor on 24
October 2003 and replied to in the Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence.
Before then, the JSCI had had a hearing on
the matter and later issued a public report to Parliament, which was adopted by
the National Assembly on the 4th of
May 2003 and was published in the ATC 60/2003 on 22 May 2003. I would like to
kindly refer you to that report.
