Adv PS Swart (DA) to ask the Minister for Intelligence:   

Whether (a) he or (b) any officials of his ministry or department were invited to attend the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens; if so, (i) which persons and officials and (ii) at whose invitation in each case; 

Whether (a) he or (b) any officials accepted the invitation; if so, (i) why and (ii) how many days was each away from work as a result;

Whether any costs were incurred by the taxpayer as a result of the trip in respect of each specified person; if not, what factors were taken into consideration in reaching this conclusion; if so, (a) what were the costs in respect of each specified person and (b) in respect of what items was this expenditure incurred; 

Whether he has declared the trip as a gift in terms of the Executive Members’ Code of Conduct; if not, why not; if so, what it the estimated value of this hospitality?

In response to the questions raised above, I wish to inform the Honourable Member that neither I nor any of my officials in the ministry or department was invited or had attended the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
