Adv
PS Swart (DA) to ask the Minister for Intelligence:
Whether
the Sunset Beach guest house was valued following the improvements to the
property; if not, why not; if so, (a) by whom and (b) what is the current value
of this property;
Whether
the guest house has been sold; if not, what is the position in this regard; if
so, (a) who took the decision in this regard, (b) what factors were taken into
consideration in deciding to sell the guest house and (c) what was the (i)
asking price and (ii) final sale price?
Reply:
The
Sunset Beach guest house was valued after the improvements by an independent
registered valuator, Maria Esmeyer, at R8 690 000.
The
house was marketed at R9 500 000 and an offer for R8 700 000 was received and
accepted. The potential buyer is currently arranging finance.
The
decision to sell the property was taken by the current Minister as the media
focus around the Sunset Beach guest house has brought undue exposure.
