Adv. P.S Swart (DA) to ask the Minister for Intelligence:
(1) Whether any investigation has been conducted into the travel claims made by or on behalf of, or the use of travel facilities by or on behalf of, officials of his department in light of the irregularities revealed in Parliament in respect of travel vouchers; if not, why not; if so, what are the findings;
(2) (a) What amount was spent by officials of his department on (i) hotel accommodation, (ii) restaurant expenses and (iii) travel costs in the (aa) 2003-04, (bb) 2004-05 and (cc) current financial years and (b) which travel agents received payment for services in each of those financial years?
REPLY:
(1) No investigations has been conducted as officials of my department does not make use of travel vouchers.
(2) I kindly wish to refer the Honourable Member to the Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence (JSCI) in terms of question (a) (i)-(iii) as the oversight body for clarity and information on questions relating to the budget of Intelligence Services and on question (b) relating to matters that are of an operational nature.
